Get communication working first

Install the genuine WeChat app, register using a number you can access, and complete its current security checks. Save a useful contact such as your host or guide before travelling. Never give someone your password or verification code to “activate” an account.

Activate payment through the current app flow

The government payment guidance supports foreign-card use with Weixin Pay. Availability and the exact setup depend on the account, issuer and transaction.

1. Locate the payment or wallet section in the current app and follow its instructions.
2. Supply identity details only when requested by the genuine app. Make the information match your passport and bank account.
3. Add an eligible card and complete any issuer verification.
4. Check merchant payment support with a small purchase; keep a separate fallback.
5. Read the displayed funding method and fees for each transaction. Do not assume person-to-person transfers or cash withdrawal are included.

If a service is unavailable

Use the app’s support and read the actual message. Avoid buying accounts or paying unofficial “verification helpers.” A different payment method may solve the immediate purchase without compromising the account.
