PRACTICAL GUIDANCE

Find your DiDi and the right pickup point

A clear location is as important as a successful booking.

Choose an accessible booking channel

The inspected Shanghai guide describes an English DiDi service inside the English version of Alipay. Actual service categories, payment methods and availability depend on city and account. This portal does not quote fares or request cars.

Before requesting a car

Match the app’s location to the physical place where you can be collected.

  1. Set the pickup point deliberately; airport and station rides may use a designated ride-hailing area.
  2. Enter the destination using its official Chinese name or address and check the map pin.
  3. Review the service type, estimate, payment method and cancellation terms.
  4. When assigned, compare the plate, vehicle and driver details with the app.
  5. Use the app’s message or translation tools to describe an entrance or landmark. Do not stand in an unsafe road position to match a pin.
  6. At the end, check the order receipt and use in-app support for billing or lost-property issues.

When the pickup is not working

Move to a clearly signed pickup point and update the driver through the official app. If you need to cancel, read the current fee notice first. A licensed taxi queue can be a useful fallback. For immediate danger, call the emergency services directly.

Useful questions

Is the displayed estimate the final fare?

The provider’s current fare rules determine the total; traffic, tolls, route changes and service type can matter. Read the final order receipt.

Should I send payment to a private QR code outside the booking?

Keep payment within the agreed official booking flow. If the driver asks for a different arrangement, clarify through provider support.
